I think people hate on Beyonce because somwhere, deep down, they still resent the fact that Destiny’s Child broke up…I can’t say that I blame them.

However, I think Beyonce’s new music video for Video Phone is on point; A lot of people are hating, but I actually like when she channels her inner hood diva :)

I think one person people love to hate is Kanye West, especially since that whole Taylor Swift fiasco. But as much as you may not like his attitude, you have to respect that he’s not afraid to do different things.

It’s 95% joking. That was almost 10 years ago.

But the 5% we chalk up to the fact that I secretly waited very patiently for somebody, ANYBODY to jump out and say “We were kidding, the girls will be back on the next album” and it never happened.

It has, and never did for me, nothing to do with Beyonce or her percieved role in this. If I didn’t know it in 2000, I definitely know it now. As far as the biz goes, that girl knows how to entertain and that’s about it. She ain’t masterminding NOTHING.

  2. Am I hater if I think Bey’s music has actually gotten crappier as time has gone on? I can’t knock her hustle, but I’m not in HS anymore, and my musical tastes have grown… she hasn’t. At least not in content. Oh well, I’m a hater. And, i don’t listen to R.Kelly… I haven’t even heard his new stuff. I have a kneejerk reaction to skip or change the channel whenever any of his songs come up. Especially his more “spiritual” songs.

I agree with everything on the list. I’ll add

Rihanna–she’s just like any other pop singer with good production and mediocre vocals. IDK why she gets so much hate. Actually, I think I know, but I’m not going there.

Chris Brown–for obvious reasons. I think Tom Joyner is still refusing to play his songs until after CB finishes his sentence.

Khloe Kardashian– Don’t be mad at the girl just ‘cuz she has her meal ticket and you don’t… HATER!! LOL!

You are not a hater (IMHO), I think Beyonce Knowles is a great performer…I can’t get with her music anymore BUT she appeals to the younger generation (I think) so its all good, there was a time she appealed to me so maybe I have just gotten old. I just cringe when I watch her videos (I know men like it and what not but my conservative side comes out when I see some of her videos). But she is still bad!!!!!

    o_O to R.Kelly.

    Renee Reply:

How do you mention Kloe Kardashian and not Kim. Black women love to hate on her for being with Reggie Bush as if we were all planning to share him. I’m more confused by Kloe and Lamar more than anything though, like I’m waiting for them to yell April Fools, kinda like Nick and Mariah, I still get my wtf face everytime I see them together.

no sign on the Kells. I’m probably one of the few that will listen to him until I die. seriously. all pre 2003 music that is. I can’t leave it alone…

and I’m a huge hater of Khloe Kardashian. I can admit it. watching the shows she’s such an ungrateful, mouthy, disrespectful bitch. I hate the way she treats elders and she’s just…a mess to me. ugh. I’on even know Odom but I had a visceral reaction to the news about their nuptials.

Beyonce is a stellar performer, she gets two snaps and a twist performance wise…but, I’m not a fan of the music…meh

Senor Sosa gets the uber O_O from me..i spose the cream straightened your hair and gave you different color eyes too huh? mmmmhhhmmmm

R Kelly…is a pervert I can’t get with the twofacedness (lemme lone about my word, lol) of his gospel…I just can’t. He needs to just pick a genre and stick to twostepping.

Kim Kardashian…the woman is GORGEOUS…leave her alone

  4. I agree with most of this list.

But Rev Run def should not have made the top 6, or even top 10. I’ve never even heard of ppl hating on him, and even if his tweets can be wack, he’s never done anything to anyone that would expose himself to the limelight like Kellz, or like Chris Brown, Kanye, Rihanna, OJ Simpson, J.Lo, Michael Vick, Mike Tyson, Rocsi, the list goes on and on. I don’t even think ppl hate Mr. Sosa as much as some of the aforementioned names. We don’t hate him, we just think he’s delusional.

I can see that this list was trying to step outside the box and include ppl we don’t normally think about as being hated on, but in doing so, you left out some of the biggest contenders for our collective disdain! =P

  5. Let me see if I can add to the list

Drake – Son got ahuge buzz early in his career (pause?). What people dont understand is that he did put in heavy grindwork with mixtapes prior to hsi So Far Gone mixtape blowing u. I see countless hate from ppl who deny his lyrical skill and overall appeal. He can make hit records. You can’t teach that!

Tom Cruise – Hes like the poster child for scientology. lol. I think thats some weirdo ish, but he makes a damn good action flick, eff it!

Ima try to think of more

Let me also say that Soulja Boy gets a bad rap. Theres been a lane for his type of music since hip hop began. Was sugar hill gang super lyrical? Fresh prince? Kid n play? Humpty Hump? Hip hop used to be about fun all the time then people brought there own genres into it (KRS-One iwth politics, NWA with gangsta rap, etc). I think theres a lane for his music, but people are mad because this music became the dominant vocie of hip hop. If you are mad, then support and BUY the music of acts that are more of your taste! The consumer fuels and influences the game. make it happen and don’t hate the players!

I agree with you on Soulja Boy. He gets a really bad rap. I don’t care for his music much, but you have to give him props for producing and writing his own music and being a self-made hip hop phenomenon. What kind of music would you be making if you were 16? I think he will grow into his own…

Humpty Hump was lyrical? Kris Kross? CMON son!

Fact is, theres a LANE for “fun hip hop” that was created years before SB was born, so he shouldnt get slammed for continuing where his predecessors left off

    Reply

    CHeeKZ Reply:

Need I remind you that Digital Underground GAVE birth to 2pac! The Humpty Dance wasn’t a lyrical song, but the group made worth while music outside of that. If A-rab develops into the next ‘top 5 dead or alive’ I would give you SB. Until than..
    POW!

Like I said.. SB is getting better! But don’t disrespect the party OG’s by putting them in the same box as SB just b/c they were both fun.
Furthermore, Kid use to write battle raps dissing gangster rappers for promoting violence and being trending. It was larger the concept behind their album Face the Nation. Y’all forgot the Fresh Prince use to tour with Public Enemy?

People have a right to hate on SB.. His best songs aren’t produced by him anyway. Toomp and Jim Jonsin hooked him up…

I agree with this list, especially the Beyonce part as I am a die-hard fan. Also, I still don’t get why people are so damn salty about the Destiny’s Child breakup. I mean, folk act like they are the only group to ever break up in the history of music! I think their break-up makes folks so salty cuz it was so public & then somehow Bey & her fam got painted as the evil Knowles who will destroy the careers of anyone who doesn’t bow down to the Queen Bey.

Which in all actuality isn’t true (IMO). I’m not saying that everything Bey & fam did was right about the way the Destiny’s Child situation was handled but the sob story for Letoya, LaTavia, & Farrah is a bit much. I mean come on, there’s no way I’m going to believe that they did everything perfectly & somehow they got duped & kicked out the group. Real talk, I think there was fault on both sides but Bey still somehow came out on top. It is what it is. Also, I still maintain that everyone whose salty about the DC break-up should own Michelle’s cds, Kelly’s, LeToya’s, even a copy of LaTavia’s & Farrah’s just in case they ever drop one.

I’m salty because I loved them. That’s all. But you know who’s probably the saltiest? Kelly. Bet that.

I’m salty EnVogue couldn’t make it work… not nan time… what happened to that comeback?

I’m salty that Blaque was a #fail and that Brownstone might be around, might not…

    Salty ’bout Total, too.

And don’t get me started on the girl groups who couldn’t even get it together right long enough to break up formally like Jade and Kut Klose and Allure.

    I’m also joking…

I just think the Knowles are shady. Well, I eff with Solange, but that’s it. I’ve been Team Latavia and Letoya from since 99. Never really got with Michelle like that–felt like she was just a filler and Farrah eh, she wasn’t around long enough to have an opinion. I wish Kelly would get more shine/make better music. She could be in the Amerie lane, but now since her music sucks too…

I would also like to add that Bey was not the force in the music industry when Destiny’s Child broke up, so, if the former members were truly talented, they would’ve gotten deals….Like LeToya….

  9. Good, accurate list. I would also like to add a couple of my own, though I hesitate to call some of them celebrities…

Cassie – Very pretty girl. Marginally…no, slightly talented. She is commonly referred to the sidepiece that could or the Light-skin that can’t. Sing.

Bow Wow – While it seems that even his own fans will never forgive him for doing ‘Face-off’ (with Omarion), I can never give him any credit for the things that comes out of his mouth. Or his Twitter account.

Ray J – I watched Ray J’s show the other day with my girl and she remarked that “Ray-J was the epitome of what is wrong with black men today” lol I thought that was classic!

The Bey stans and haters need to fall back. With all the success she’s had, I doubt she could care less about a hater, so why do you?

And lastly, the Rev Run comment went right over my head! Who’s hatin on Rev Run? I see his tweets being re-tweeted all the time!

I will not listen to the Pied Piper’s music…do you know the real story of the Pied Piper? He was a pedophile, the rats were children, and it was told as a way to warn kids about those devils.

Rev Run…I can appreciate him & what he’s trying to do…he might be corny but he’s possitive and we (I) can appreciate that…

Bey?…I have grown to pre-order each new album (yessir) but I’m sure her career is about to take a hiatus. Why? This whole album/video/outfits screams J.Lo “This is me…then” i.e. she’s about to go mommy-mode and ruin the figure/put some clothes on…

I must agree that folks can get extra when criticizing her, but I also hate how those folks who completely eff it up for those who have a valid criticism of her. Because if anyone says anything remotely bad about her nowadays, it’s off with your dayum head. lol I think she’s a great performer, but as far as her actual voice? Meh. Overhyped. But, that’s about it. Her songs are catchy as hell.

    My one and only addition:

    1. Diddy aka Sean Combs aka aka “Diddles”. I’ve softened up to him over the past few years because sometimes he does bring the funny, but I HATE him. I hate his “lemme front like I’m hard even though I look like a suburbanite” schtick. I hate how he fronts people off that work under him and be a total jacka*s under the guise of “tough love”. Tough love, my upper lip. Cut the B.S. You do that to embarrass folks. It has nothing to do with “these kids gotta learn to deal with it in the real world”. How about NOT being a total rude donkey to folks? Oh, and Last Train to Paris was the LAST train to autotune trend. Nicca, you LATE! Ain’t nothing inventive and revolutionary about that hot mess. Jay-z (lyrically)… As a business man, dude is on point -> period. Homie’s flow is cool (sometimes). But I think dude is massively overrated. C’mon… Guy doesn’t compare to veterans like AZ, Jada Kiss, DMX, NAS or Eminem. A somewhat newbie I’ll rank above Jay-z on anyday is… not lil’ Wayne, not Drake, not Kayne, but… *drum roll* Lupe Fiasco.

T-Pain… He’s making bread off of a iPhone app now. That’s cool, but his music SUCKS. Not even like when you dislike something and it grows on you. His music is like the swine flu… its the same thing just a mutated version that fell through the cracks. Darwinism will prove that his style is the weakest link… goodbye.
