I woke up this morning in tears.

I had a dream I went to the ghettos of London and met these drug lords who got into a gang war. Then I got arrested in a raid, with no identification. The drug lords were kind, they made a phony ID-with a far away picture of me play Wii ( *side eye* I don’t even do video games). Once I explained my dilemma to the UN, they handed me a plane ticket…then explained that however I got home was between me and God, as they proceeded to take me back to the drug lords, I somehow got free but, the DD’s had spies all over the place that were terrorizing me. Then my kids came into the picture and these lil nappy head oliver twist like thugs were torturing my babies.

I woke up b/c I was crying in my sleep (respeck my gangsta)

  2. I’m big into all things metaphysical so I’m a fan of dream interpretation… usually dreams about death or the dead are a good omen of good things to come or the birth of something new in your life.

While I’ve never had a large scale reunion with those in the hereafter I do have dreams about my mom quite frequently. Usually I’m doing something family related and my mom is there and I’m quite aware that she shouldn’t be there in the dream. It’s like I know it’s special that she’s there and that we’re spending time together. I almost never remember what we talk about. Most of the time we don’t even talk we’re just out doing something random like shopping. I think it’s her way of checking in on me and I always feel blessed when I get to see her and have that safe w/ mommy feeling… it’s good while I’m sleep but waking up hurts.

I’ve have a recurring dream where I get shot in a mall. It’s weird because I know the mall and it’s been run down for years. I started having the dream when I was in middle school and every now and then it pops back up… I HATE that dream.

The worst dreams are the ones where you hover between being awake and sleep. Like your body is sleep and your mind is awake. There is nothing more disturbing than not being able to move your limbs… not okay! *shutter*

My favorite dreams are lucid dreams. I don’t have them but so often, like maybe once every other month, but when I do, I take FULL ADVANTAGE ;-)

I’m just now headed to bed so I’m hoping for good dreams… I’ll fill ya’ll in if I remember when I wake up.

  3. I dream regularly and just like you, they are all over the place. I just shared my dream this weekend over on Comeback’s site yesterday.

“Anywho, I was modeling clothes for Rihanna who had a line in Rockawear… and I had on jeans and no shirt.. and i was asking them what they were gonna do about my fat…. and they said don’t worry about it.

Then I saw the pictures on the cover and I had on NO CLOTHES!!!! Like nothing… it was my face but naked. But you couldn’t see anything, it was artfully done.”

I think Rihanna came into the picture bc I colored my hair dark this weekend and my S.O kept teasing and calling me her.

I don’t take my dreams literally because they are so confusing. Sometimes I dream that I’m not even myself (Like I’d be a middle aged 2520 man) but I can still “feel” everything he does… I’ve dreamt I was in labor several times (and I’ve never had kids)….

but ANYWHO, visit Comeback’s site, whenever I have a question about a dream, there are some people over there that are really good at translation.

I can’t lie. For the past two months I dream every single night about that good stroke. In all different positions and all different places. Yep.

If dreams reveal the intricacies of one’s mind, and all I’m dreaming about is the feeling of an extended piece climbing up my spine–then it can be said that ildolceamore becomes pretty basic without her Vitamin D.

  5. I dream on a pretty regular basis, but I often wake up feeling a certain way about the dream/as a result of it, but can remember the damn dream. Its highly annoying waking up feeling a little off, and not remembering why.

I also have a few reoccurring dreams that involve me being chased or physically hurt in someway. These always come around when I am going through a stressful transition or am approaching something unfamiliar. Also no fun.

Dreams are very interesting, and some say (e.g. Freud) that they are a reflection of our subconscious thoughts and feelings. So its not uncommon to not be able to make sense of them right away, or ever. One thing that I know helped a friend of mine was to write down what she remembered of the dream when she woke up, and go back to it later if she cared to try to make sense of it.

I’ve had the waking up crying thing, but I’ve also woken myself up laughing and I’ve punched the guy next to me in my sleep. Often enough I trip in my dreams and wake up with a falling sensation.

My favorite dreams are when see something and then it pops up in real life a day or two later. Just the other night I dreamt that I was picking up a purse for my sisters’ b-day and the next day she mentions she might want a white purse as a present. That was a helpful one :)

My recurring dream is of me running from someone or something, and I’m never really that scared but I run really fast with some impressive hedge jumping. I always get away though.

About your dream Slimmy J (can I call you that?) I don’t know, did you talk to any of them?

    Reply

    Slim Jackson Reply:

@Tatica: You can call me Slimmy J…or Big D. Though I’m guessing you will lean toward the former.

I spoke briefly with one person in the dream and was kinda fine with that. Then all the other faces popped up. Everybody was sitting by a wall in what looked like a big ballroom or conference room in a hotel. Some in wheelchairs and such. Strange stuff. Ran out of the building at that point all frantic and that’s when the fighting to wake up began.

  7. I recall a few dreams from my childhood (and 1 very recently) where I’m being chased by some killer and I don’t know his motivation. What did I do to him? I woke up from that dream with my heart racing and being afraid, but almost immediately after waking up, I could not recall any of the details other than being chased and being afraid for my life.

But like a few others, my dreams are kinda all over the place, but always feature a few members of my immediate family, and at least 2 people I know from HS, undergrad, and law school. It doesn’t matter what’s going on in the dream, family, friends, and acquaintances seem to always be present. I kinda like that….

p.s. listening to Bad Habits…I love Maxwell. I wish I would dream about him…gonna think about him all day and see if I can get something poppin’ in my sleep tonight….

  8. well, I mentioned on eff it friday I had an intense dream the night before. I have vivid dreams all the time, most of them are like action movies–I swear I be kickin ass! LOL. maybe I watch too much Heroes. eh. a couple months ago I had a dream me and my family were in a serious car accident–and my deceased grandmother was in the car with us. strange. I’ve also had dreams where my mom passed away and I woke up crying and distraught. took me awhile to comfort myself behind that one too.

In my childhood I had recurring dreams of being attacked by like thousands of dogs–all types just were in our backyard. it was soooooo strange. Especially since I love dogs.

I’ve had sexual dreams also, woke up in climax. :-)

My Dad and I have the same anxiety dream. I always thought that was kinda cool.

Walking into a math class I haven’t attended since the first day of the semester a week or so before the final trying to learn everything, get all the assignments done, and plead with the teacher. It’s weird because this dream continues to mess with my head. In undergrad I used to have to look at my schedule in order for my heart to stop pounding… now I still have to convince myself there are no math classes in med school.

It’s amazing and powerful how your subconscious can make you feel so strongly when you know consciously it was just a dream.

Has anyone ever heard of lucid dreaming?

    Wiki it.

There were these strange boys in our Philosophy Club back in college (emo on the past tense) who were actively training themselves to be lucid dreamers.

I lucid dream sometimes, find myself climbing walls in the middle of the night and bent in to awkward positions while I’m unplugged from the Matrix. That’s only when I take the blue pill though.

Lucid dreaming is awesome! Weird philosophy kids might take it as an opportunity to fly and ish like that, but mine always lean towards the erotic. You can literally let your imagination run wild.

I think the best sex I’ve ever had was during a lucid dream. They say the mind is the biggest erogenous zone. I guess that’s why the “O”s always seem bigger and better when I’m dreaming.

I dream every single night, my dreams are very revealing, and most of the emotionally intense dreams always come true.

For example, I had a dream of my father’s funeral, 4 days before he died. It’s weird, I woke up scared but kind of at peace(we were VERY close), he wasn’t sick, and it was very unexpected. Because of my dream, even down to the very detail of the casket, his suit, everything, I was able to be calm and plan his funeral. That was a HUGE burden for a then 23 yr old, having just graduated from college.

Anyway, I’ve had several friends tell me not to dream about them, because almost all of my dreams come true in some way shape or form. Of course I have those random dreams, but usually they are meaningful, I actually look forward to dreaming.

I truly believe that our loved ones that have passed on visit us in our dreams. Sometimes my rational mind kicks in like, ” you really can’t be here”. I feel you though, it can be emotionally confusing and taxing to have them “pop up” in our dreams.

Maybe they were just on your mind subconsciously, and like the first commenter said, death in dreams usually represents the opposite, or sometimes in my case, reality. I wouldn’t worry too much about the dream, take it as a sign that those that have passed still care enough about you to visit you in your dreams.

    I dream pretty regulary..sometimes I can remember sometimes I can’t.
I’ve dreamt of my Granma and my Uncle Charles who are both deceased GOD REST and BLess THEIR SOULS..sometimes those dream make me sad upon awaking because they are not here anymore and sometimes I was sad a time or two in the dream, most times its pleasant tho, like a lil while ago I dreamt about my uncle Charles and he had a mohawk LOL and he looked so healthy and happy and in the dream he was telling me he is okay better than okay LOL…that dream made me feel comforted-( my uncle died suddenly in his sleep three years ago, and I found his body in his apt after he didn’t show up for work)..mostly My Granma mostly comes in my dreams when I am really troubled, like she knows or something.
Dreams are powerful….. sometimes the most vivid interpretations of things in the conscious mind, sometimes as warnings, sometimes they tell of things to come, sometimes they tell of things that have been, sometimes of things we wished could be etc etc etc….

I was also a sleep walker as a child but thats a whole nother convo LOL

I had this conversation with a co-worker yesterday. She was in a panic to contact her daughter because a friend of hers had a bad dream about said child. As a Jamaican woman I’ve had relatives come to me all smiley talking about they dreamt fish last night or for me to be extra careful because they dreamt about a wedding. I take dream interpretation with a grain of salt. I believe dreams result from the subconscious being influenced by your conscious environment – your fears, aspirations, love, stress factors, food intake, etc.

I don’t dream regularly – it’s mostly all black when I’m asleep. For the few dreams I have had, I can remember them all. They’ve been about real situations with people in my real life.

I have off the wall dreams, like I’m walking and I’ll just disappear through the floor or start floating above people YET STILL be walking beside them..o_O yeah..

I use to dream about my daddy a lot and wake up crying or be frozen in the dream, knowing I’m dreaming, knowing I’m crying, feeling my chest almost explode but not being able to move. I used to moan in my dreams, one long steady noise that would wake my mother up; I could hear myself but couldn’t move. I dream deja vu.

My sister dreams prophetically if she dreams something, or the circumstances surrounding the vent, it’ll happen within the next few days, without fail. She day dreams too, those are ‘weird’ because she’ll be in the middle of doing something and just pause then pick up doing what she was doing before the dream.

  17. Most of dreams are about regular ish. Since starting my first full-time job after college, I’ve had a ton of dreams about everyday happenings at work. I had a stupid arse dream about coming to work even though I called off and everyone laughing at me for it. Hell, I’d laugh at myself. That’s dumb as a mofo.

The weirdest dream I’ve had was when I was in high school and I’ll never forget it. I was running around my neighborhood at an odd time of the night. It was pitch black. It looked like my neighborhood, but at the same time, it looked like the barren and creepy forest in the Wizard of Oz that had that sign “I wouldn’t go here if I were you” or some mess. Anyhow, I was lost and wandering around. Suddenly, some zombie looking mofo starts approaching me and I’m scared, yet paralyzed….I can’t go anywhere. It was like my feet were glued to the ground. He finally arrives right before me and says, “You’re walking dead”. Then, I wake up. WTF does that mean??

I also tend to dream about dudes I’m feelin’. It’s all in the subconscious.

Recently, I’ve been having several dreams about reuniting with my graduating class from grammar school. Probably because I’ve been wondering how everyone’s doing and I’ve recently gotten MySpace and Facebook requests from grammar school friends.

  19. If I don’t dream then I can’t sleep. So I very much like dreaming. Some are like eight hour long movies strictly for entertainment. Others are like mocumentaries providing insight to my life. And then I have the ones that stir up feelings of happiness, sorrow or good ole anger.

I dream about work, a lot, especially when I’m stressed. I usually get a great lead for a story or a column idea in these dreams. Or either it foreshadows events to come and what I need to do to stay on my A game at work. No lie I dreamt my boss quit because of her health and it did indeed happen. Coincidence? I think not.

I have interesting dreams that would actually make a good book or movie. I know there are at least good ones.

I’ve dreamed of deceased family members. Usually those are happy dreams. I’ve dreamed things that seemed so real I was confused when it wasn’t so when I woke up.

Funny story: Occasionally I dreamT about going to the bathroom when I was little (like still in pre-k or kindergarten). Those were the days of “accidents in bed.” Glad I grew out of that one.

They all start out pretty normal, then next thing you know I’m running for my life w/ a guinness in one hand and a L in the next (which would be the ideal way to kick the bucket besides dying mid-stroke). Aside from those the only other dreams I have usually start because my TV is on, or there’s some sort of loud sound outside which my mind uses to start a dream. So if I fall asleep watching ESPN, I end up dreaming about sports etc.

I rarely dream about thronxing seeing as I am the source of countless women’s fantasies.

I’m still trying to figure out what it means, but my friends had some good interpretations (i.e. the new Miss V is trying to hold back something from her past).

The strange thing about this dream is that I woke up, went to school, did my usual stuff, and when I went to sleep the following night, The dream picked up from where it left off from the night before; almost like I was reading a book and stopped to do something else.
