Relax This Weekend!
It’s Friday and it’s about to be a long weekend for most of us. And of course when we say long weekend, we mean that in a fun way. Some folks are headed to Miami for Memorial Day Weekend aka Florida Freaknik. I did that trip 2 years in a row and there are still too many stories that I am not able to speak about. My advice for those headed to MIA:
Don’t get pregnant and use condoms because your piece depends on it.
Others may be headed to Black Bike Weekend down in Myrtle Beach. That’s cool. Ride safe yet dirty. Normally I’d hate because I’m too paranoid to even think about getting a bike. Altima Jackson it is for the foreseeable future. As for everybody else, we hope you’re headed somewhere where the weather is nice and there won’t be any stress. The day jobs and/or school have dragged us down long enough and it’s time to get a break! Unfortunately, these breaks are never long enough. That’s why I had to plan a trip to the Bahamas for the middle of June. No drama and no stress for 1 week. I’ve never taken a real vacation before. Been places for like 3 days then traveled back home. Best believe I will make the best of it.
For those folks around in blog world today, where are you headed this weekend? Do you have any real vacations planned for the near future? If not, where would you like to be? I know you wanna get away…

Since I’m on the computer tonight and probably won’t be able to check ThreeWays tomorrow during the day (*raises fist at The Man*), I’m gonna be this post’s first. What an honor. Just hope this post won’t start stalking me or nothing.
Memorial Day Weekend will be chill for me. The fam is breaking out our first ‘queing session of the year. Dusting off the grill and ready to eat some damn good BBQ.
As for a real vacation. I actually never been on one, either, Slim. We’ve (the fam) been thinking about doing a Bahamas cruise at the end of the summer and my dream has always been to visit the Grand Canyon (not the pausable kind…because, uh, no Ellen). The beauty of that miracle is something to be witnessed, and witness it I must. Also planning on that this year.
Anyhow, have a lovely long weekend/vacation ya’ll. We deserve it! Live it up!

Memorial Day is always good. the official kick off of Summer. I’m heading to Philly to visit my homeboy and i’m contemplating going to Myrtle Beach.
-I’ve been on a few vacations. I went on a cruise to Cozumel Mexico, Grand Cayman Island, and Ocho Rios JA. Been to Disney World Kings Dominion, Myrtle beach and I went to Denmark last summer.
-My dream vacation would be to Spain. Hit up Ibiza island and then stay in Cadiz Spain and take the ferry to Morocco during the day. Another would be to Iguasu Falls in Brazil& Argentina.

I’ve been to Miami twice for Memorial Day.. Best. Time. Ever. lol. Springfest there doesn’t get much better (but I think that got cancelled)
I have few SMALL vacays coming up… I’m going to St. L to meet my man’s parents next week. Then in early July, we’ll be doing the taste of Chicago with another couple… and then Miami later this year. I am addicted to Miami though- I’ve been going every year!
If I could go anywhere, I’d go somewhere where there is a beach for at least one week. My vacays are always too short. Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach, Cabo San Lucas… it really doesn’t matter as long as there is sun and water.

Didn’t even realize it was Mem Day weekend til just now :-/ but I guess that’s b/c I am in Brazil babieeee! It’s beautiful down here, but it’s approaching winter, which means it’s not hella hot as u might imagine. It’s about mid 70 highs but still clear skies, and mid 60 lows. As long as the sun’s shining so I can still get that Brazilian insta-tan, I can dig it. Be back in 3 weeks!

My hubby & I are hosting a BBQ for all of our friends with families [read: friends with bad ass kids] on saturday. After that, I plan on crashing every single BBQ I hear about.
I so need to step my travel game up. Never been to ATL [i know shoot me now] or Miami [i know i know].
I’ll try to see either one of those freaky cities for the Fourth.

Are people still heading down to Myrtle Beach this year? There are radio PSAs in Raleigh saying that Myrtle Beach is not hosting the bike rallies this year, and for people not to come expecting the big rallies of the past. And there are several new ordinances that are an attempt to keep away the large crowds…it’s gonna be an interesting weekend.
As for me, I’m probably going home to SC for the family BBQ. I am long overdue for a vacation., and since Christmas week (Dec.25-Jan.1) is a paid week off for me, I’m planning a vacation for that time. I wanna go to the DR, but I would rather go somewhere not as obvious. Any suggestions?

Oh no, don’t go to D.R. The cab drivers kidnap the tourists straight from the airport.
I have no clue how true that is, but I got it straight from my dominican hair-dresser.
If you can afford it, go to Greece. Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants painted a very beautiful picture. If not, I suggest somewhere like Vegas or Cabo San Lucas.

So going to Mexico where there’s an active drug war and hunt for Americans is safer than going to La Republica Dominicana? If you go to DR go to Puerta Plata or Santo Domingo and stay ur butt in the tourists areas

That same week I am going to Cuba, it might be hard to get that visa so you have to plan early. Outside of the plane ticket the cost is low.
Also want to go to Cape Verde and Morocco.

This is my favorite Holiday out of the whole year. If you went to Catholic school like me, you also had off Thursday and Friday for Ascension Thursday. That is a five day weekend, with parents still having work for the first two (open house day time parties!).
Good weather, BBQs, plus in LI everyone is gearing up for the Coliseum Fair and GreekFest afterparty on Nassau Rd.
Since I have gotten older and had to spend more on X-mas than I get back in gifts, I gotta say Memorial Day is the best holiday. Miami. Myrtle Urkel Beach. ATL. Cancun (minus Swine Flu and Drug Cartels). Vegas. All Jumpoff for us Black Folk.

Cutting out of work early and this weekend I’m hitting up the clubs with the girls. My mom might throw some bbq on the grill, so I’ll be there for that and I know a few backyard bbqs going on.
As far as true vacations go. I came back from a 10 day vacation in LA about 3 weeks ago. Going on a cruise in August and before that it’ll just be a bunch of long weekends here and there. My dream vacation would be July in the south of France.

I didn’t realize it was Memorial day weekend until yesterday… sad I know. I’ll be here in Dallas writing a paper… hit up a barbque or two… have some drinks, hit the streets… a typical texas weekend.
Was in San Diego 3 wks ago, now I am planning a trip to DC sometime this summer… trying to work out the schedules. First time so I’m looking forward to it.

my brothers in their niggerish ways are going to miami. they booked their hotel yesterday and bought thier plane tickets today. for the amount of money they spent they easily could went to out of the country (europe, africa, etc.).
i’ll be going to florida (not miami).

Nothing going one for the weekend except relaxing and not worrying about a thing!
I’m going to S California mid-June for a week, never on the left coast so I’m excited about that. Also looking forward to a peek at Vegas.
I make it a point to have a real vacation of at least 1 week off once a year because it is one thing that consistently makes me happy. Traveling is my bliss.

But for the long term, I just heard JetBlue is now flying to Jamaica. I hear Mo Bay and Negril calling me.

i’m all late, but i went to Virginia for Mem Day wknd… i had a great time, even though it was pretty low key. will def have to check out Miami next year, though.
i’m also planning on going to Los Angeles and Vegas in July with my BFF. I’m really excited about it… hopefully i won’t have to worry about any earthquakes
