I’m glad you bought this up. A friend of mine actually sent me the same information yesterday via instant message. Now unfortunately we still live in times where there are certain white people who just plain and simply have never liked black people (themselves) and their great grandchildren will never like black people (themselves) either, especially a half-breed like Mr. Obama. Now you would never see a black person plotting to rob a gun store, shoot 74 white folks, cut off 14 off their heads, and then attempt to shoot Mr. OBama just because he’s white (at least 50%) which sort of makes me wonder. Aren’t we the one’s if anything who should be angry and upset after centuries of slavery, poverty, and discrimination and possibly responding in a murderous rage to any white person who looked at my grandmother the wrong way, let alone lifted an eyelash to myself? Yet, as cool as Barack, black people are as a forgiving race as they come. This kind of worries me b/c we haven’t reacted in this manor (not that a few of us haven’t thought about it) but yet these gentleman feel some reason to. Why? Why are they so angry? Why do they have so much hate? Why/how will murdering another prominent black figure in anyway help this nation progress the way it needs to?

I tell you this much, lets just hope that Mr. Obama and his family are as safe as they come going up to election day and the time thereafter (should he win), b/c if he doesn’t win or something should happen to him or his family, I pity the fool(s) who may just start ARMAGEDDON b/c as Jay said: If he don’t win, the whole hood get LLAMAS (firearms) on me!

I’m predicting riots worse than Rodney King if he doesn’t win. Like I said, this election is going to bring out the best and worst of people.

  2. I plan on watching the election results with some co-workers in a nice, liberal neighborhood. I’m not quite sure how I will react when Obama wins. I’m liable to do anything from sit quietly and cry to dashing into the streets and breaking out into an impromptu interpretive traditional African dance.

I’ve decided I will cab home. Through several discussions with drivers during numerous cab rides this election season, I’ve discovered that 9 outta 10 cabbies are voting for Obama. Most foreign drivers know how to navigate their way through chaos, so I trust Kazam to get me home safer than Metro, if a riot were to break out in Chocolate City. I live very close to the Armory and according to my parents who lived in DC during the riots after MLK Jr’s assasination, tanks will come rolling outta there and I live in one of the most secure blocks in the country.

I’m praying that everything goes smoothly but nevertheless, I will have my RBG scarf and coordinating arm band on and will be rumble ready if the revolution begins. (Indeed, the revolution will not be televised, but it will be recorded by camera phone and broadcast on YouTube).

All that being said… I’ve decided to focus on the positives of Obama winning the election next week, and have already started planning for the inauguration. Everybody, their momma, and their cousins have made reservations at my basement studio apartment for the Coronation of King Obama. All are welcome. I’m predicting that it will look like it’s Juneteenth here in the District.

If/when Barack wins, I will begin stepping and hootin and hollerin in the streets. I will then be cautious on the subway and in the work place. This is assuming I don’t lose my job first.

This reminds me of an email I received a few days ago regarding post-election/Obama-win etiquette:

    1. No crying, hugging or shouting “Thank you Lord” – at least not in public.

    2. No high-fives unless the area is clear and there are no witnesses.

    3. No laughing at the McCain/Palin supporters.

    4. No calling in sick on November 5th. They’ll get nervous if too many of us don’t show up.

    5. We’re allowed to give each other knowing winks or nods in passing. Just try to keep from grinning too hard.

    6. No singing loudly, “We’ve come this Far By Faith” (though it’s acceptable to hum softly).

    7. No bringing of barbeque ribs or fried chicken for lunch in the company lunchroom for at least a week (no chiterlings at all – this may make us seem too ethnic).

    8. No leaving kool-aid packages at the water fountain (this might be a sign that poor folks might be getting a break through).

    9. No Cupid Shuffle during breaks (this could indicate a little too much excitement).

    10. Please no “Movin’ on Up” music (we want to try and remain humble).

    11. No doing the George Jefferson dance (unless you’re in your office with the door closed).

    12. Please try not to yell “BOOOO YAH!”

    13. Just in case you’re wondering, Doing the Running Man, cabbage patch, or a backhand spring on the highway is 100% not okay.

Eh…I chuckled at a few. You get the gist tho.

It depends on how it all goes down. If Barack loses by a landslide, then well…aint too much to be mad about. Now if it’s close, and all of a sudden Florida and Michigan gotta start re-checkin votes and old folks are getting turned away from polls for BS reasons and Barack loses by the one vote some idiot forgets to cast, then yeah, it might be some shit. But dont get it twisted, I’ll be home on Nov. 5th if Barack wins, because white folks already think Mexicans are taking their jobs and we’re taking their slots in schools and what not, I shudder to think how they will react to the Brother-in-chief.

“Coronation of king Obama”? Interesting how people need to have a king. It really is sad. The whole point of this country and its form of government was and is to escape the tyranny of a monarchy. It is unfortunate how pathetically ignorant much of this society CHOOSES to be. Being stupid is somehow revered in parts of this country. Some of the reasons people have for voting for a person are so feeble. Well…look what it got us now. 1 year into it and the national debt has been doubled, unemployment is over 14%, and where is all the “transparency”. Nice job. Are you still making your car payments and mortgage payments you ignorant people.

I agree with you about the stupidity of this country (Folks did elect Bush for two terms. Well, really just one) and the championing of mediocrity in some areas, but I have to disagree with your opinions about the Obama administration.

While some of his international policies may be questionable, the economic plans he has set in motion have stabilized things and now have helped to stem the unemployment rate. It is no longer growing at a rapid rate and it is in fact beginning to shrink in some states. Businesses are beginning to hire again, as my human resources colleagues can attest to, and 2010 looks to be a promising year for both the work force and the economy with budgets growing once again.

Furthermore, Obama is cleaning up the mess of the Bush administration within this first year. Their actions and policies are the reason why we’re in such a horrible economic state right now. But none of the anti-Obama constituents want to acknowledge that. As any educated person knows, it takes time to “clean house” and begin to run things the way you’d like. Ask a CEO, coach or any other type of leader and they’ll let you know the deal. If after 4 years we’re still in a horrible place, I will entertain your negative, and yes somewhat ignorant, discussions.

Thanks for stopping by the site.

I see you’re not a fan of humor or hyperbole… how sad for you. Anonymous huh… no creativity either… terrible. I’d be angry too if I lived in a world with no wit.

    PS… long live King Obama
