The Anniversary

We alluded to it with yesterday’s Superlative Awards post, but that’s the day we started this blog. 8.8.09 marks the 1 year anniversary of Three Ways to Take It, which started out as a collaboration between 2 individual bloggers and a creative writer. Since then, we’ve been able to turn this site into a community with an intelligent readership that doesn’t just need outlandish content or a monstrous number of comments to be considered “a good blog”. When we initially kicked this thing off, our topics tended to focus on relationships. But as time went on, we realized that people surfing websites wanted to see more than that. We diversified our content and incorporated events and thoughts from our real lives to create something that most people visiting the site could relate to.

When we started Three Ways to Take It, winning a Black Weblog Award wasn’t our goal. We just wanted to keep providing great reads and a forum for honest discussion. As the number of visitors grew and the number of folks commenting increased, we realized that we had something special. Fortunately for us, a lot of people felt the same way and chose to nominate and vote us into the finals of the 2009 Black Weblog Awards in 3 different categories. This is a major accomplishment in itself for being around for just 1 year. We want to offer our most sincere thanks again to the people that have made this website what it is. We may not be the biggest blog on the internet, but we definitely now have a presence as a result of your efforts.

We have a long way to go and a lot to accomplish over the next year. We’ve grown significant writers and hold ourselves to a much higher standard. Hopefully, you continue to follow us in our journey as we evolve. In the mean time, if you are truly a fan of this website, make sure that you vote for Three Ways to Take It on questions 9, 16, and 27 in the finals of the Black Weblog Awards. Bringing home an award doesn’t just mean we’re putting a trophy on the mantle. It means that we, as a movement and collective, have accomplished something great and laid a path for future writers/bloggers to follow.
