The Movie of My Life
When I left my office for the day one day last week, Mel Gibson and folk were shooting a movie a few buildings over. Aside from the amazement of how the street was transformed into a movie set, I was amazed at the obvious line between fiction and reality.
Me walking out of the office feeling disgruntled and looking forward to a potent drink that would dehydrate me overnight is a reality. Me running around drunkenly acting as if I have no sense is an alternate reality. Whatever Mel was filming is fiction. So I got to pondering, what if my life were a movie? Would anybody watch it? Probably not, cuz my life is often quite boring and monotonous. I wake up, shower, shave, get dressed, curse at my housemate for being able to sleep in, then scurry to the bus stop. I sit cramped on a subway, then get to my office, chat away all day on the phone, leave, scurry to the train station, back on the bus, then back home. Somewhere within all of this I’m reading or writing blogs. It’s the same thing everyday. Who would wanna watch that ish?
But yeah, I started thinking of all the movies I’ve seen over the years that struck a chord. I was trying to figure out if there was a movie to sum up my life, what would it be? Would I choose one of the movies out there or would I have to make up a title and a basic synopsis. For the sake of this blog, I chose to be creative and make up a movie and synopsis (Office Space would be a good representation of my life. Sometimes I don’t think I’d mind being at a desk in the basement with a stapler. At least I could peruse the internet without anybody looking over my shoulder).
I’ll edit this post a bit later to include my movie. But until then, if you had to choose a movie to represent your life what would it be? And if you can’t think of one, what would you call the movie of your life and what would be the quick synopsis?

*Sigh*
My brain is dead. Because the first movie that came to mind is Groundhog Day with Bill Murray. And now I’m stuck and can’t think of an alternative.

This was an interview question I had once, so I already know my answer….its My Fair Lady. Thats the story of my life.

“Office Space.”" That’s a classic….
I can’t think of a movie that describes my life… like you, I’m pretty routine. I’d like it to be like Pretty Woman for a FEW days (except I don’t want to be a hooker!) LOL.

The Holiday.
“Iris, in the movies we have leading ladies and we have the best friend. You, I can tell, are a leading lady, but for some reason you are behaving like the best friend.”

No specific movie comes to mind, but in general the movie of my life would naturally include yours truly. While this topic focuses on what the plot of the movie itself, I’ll have to respond by saying that no matter what the movie is, I’d be a great actor surrounded by a HORRIBLE cast. Just horrible. Got a good script, good firm backing the movie, but the casting director was sky high during auditions and your hero gets stuck with a D list cast. It’s like Denzel being in a movie, with Carl Winslow, Craig’s mama from Friday, Lela Rochon and Ed Asner. Come ON! WHAT IS MY MOTIVATION!!!!!!!

i think the movie of my life would be like Sex in the City… but with a whole new character… me. young black professional, trying to find “mr. right” or at least “mr. right now.” my friends often say certain things only happen to me, particularly when it comes to the opposite sex , so i think it would be a funny/interesting addition to Sex in the City series/movie.

lol yeah i’m cool … j/k (but not really).
but, this is the first thing that comes to mind. obviously this won’t capture my ENTIRE life, but these days, it would fit perfectly. i told myself that i’d have to keep track of all the random things that happen to me, so that i can talk about it with my friends or through a blog/book

I would have to give kudos to Vanessa and agree with the ‘Sex and the City’ movie as well, especially Jennifer Hudson’s character. The other movie I would mention is “Waiting to Exhale’, although my life is no where near as dramatic…yet.
